Driving in the Rain

Rain dropsAll roads, dirt and paved, become different when wet. Dirt or clay roads become muddy and harder to maneuver through. Paved roads become slippery as oil rises from pores in the road and it becomes hard to control the steering. It is very important to concentrate on the road and your surroundings while it is raining or following a heavy rain. Your vision becomes greatly reduced in rain making it more difficult to see around you.

The vast majority of weather-related crashes happen on wet pavement and during rainfall: seventy-five percent of weather related accidents happen on wet pavement and forty-seven percent while it is raining. A much smaller percentage of weather-related crashes occur during wintry conditions: fifteen percent of crashes occur during sleet or snow, while thirteen percent occur on ice and eleven percent of weather-related crashes take place on slush or snow covered pavement. Only three percent happen in fog.

Accidents on wet roads are extremely dangerous. Cars are more likely to hydroplane. Not to mention, there is a higher chance of another car hitting you followed by another car, ending in a change reaction action that is very dangerous.

Visiting a treatment and rehabilitation clinic after a severe accident on a wet road is a decision your insurance company will help you make. These clinics truly care about their patients. A better physician and patient relationship is striven for in every session. Sessions become more personal, your therapy is based strictly on your abilities and your needs. There are several therapy methods to choose from. Your physician is educated in car accident injuries and can answer any questions you may have on your injuries. Your physician, along with the rest of the clinic’s staff, is very experienced in car accident injuries and their rehabilitation.

Passive therapy and Active therapy

These clinics provide you with two different therapy types for your body to regain a steady recovery to your normal life. Passive injury is to help decrease, stabilize, and control your pain from your accident while active therapy is designed to strengthen your body and help it to regain composure. Active therapy and passive therapy together gives you the combination you need to guide you back to the life you enjoyed before the accident.

Why is it necessary to have both?

It is very hard to strengthen your body while experiencing pain. The majority of pain may come from muscle tension and other muscle related problems. By having passive therapy sessions you can eliminate the pain that prevented you from receiving the active therapy you need.

Prevent accidents from happening on wet roads. During inclement weather, you take into consideration that the road conditions have changed. You must drive slower than you normally would. While your vision may be impaired while it is raining, your vision can be helped by continuously using the wipers to clear away rain and the water sprayed by passing vehicles or those in driving in front of you.
