Road Rage
Road rage causes drivers to act out of their normal character. Road rage is anger against drivers for small, insignificant reasons. This rage can be caused by a car swerving in front of you or because you are stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Road rage can cause you to yell out in these situations, beep your horn, or speed off at a danger rate of speed. Some drivers tailgate the "offender" or bump car. Road rage is so bad that deaths have been caused by it.
Driving in the Rain
All roads, dirt and paved, become different when wet. Dirt or clay roads become muddy and harder to maneuver through. Paved roads become slippery as oil rises from pores in the road and it becomes hard to control the steering. It is very important to concentrate on the road and your surroundings while it is raining or following a heavy rain. Your vision becomes greatly reduced in rain making it more difficult to see around you.
Children in Moving Cars
Having children riding in the front seat of a car is common practice while often times illegal. You have to be 12 to sit in the front seat of a vehicle in many states. The age restriction is for children's safety. The air bag(s) located in the passenger seat are designed to protect your face and body from injury. A smaller individual can be injured by an air bag because they are not as big as older children or adults.
Driving While Applying Makeup
Females are very well known for their interest in beauty, as demonstrated in several magazines, products, talk shows, and other media genre. Often times women will leave the house without their face painted as completely as they want and will use the mirror in the car to complete the task while driving. This is an incredibly huge distraction and a prescription for a tragedy.
Talking on the Phone While Driving
It is becoming more and more apparent that talking on the phone, while driving is a huge issue. Talking on the phone while driving is becoming a big problem because talking on the phone while driving is considered a distraction. Distractions while driving are the number1 cause of car accidents. Cell phones require you to divide your attention between the road and your conversation and sometimes require all of your focus.
Texting and Driving
Texting has to be one of the biggest distractions drivers face today while driving. It is very hard for some drivers not to answer their phone when it begins to vibrate on their dashboard, seat or lap. Texting while driving is listed number 1 as the top cause of accidents in the United States. Texting requires you to take your eyes off the road and when you take your eyes off the road for even a few seconds, anything might happen.
Tailgating
Tailgating, or following too closely, has been a very hazardous issue for a very long time. This issue is very common, ranking in the top 25 for causes of all automobile accidents. Some drivers are not aware of the tailgating they may do and or the people who are tailgating them. It is important to always be aware of your surroundings while driving. When you follow too closely you are at risk of causing accidents.
Speeding and Driving
The favorite pedal in a car for nearly all drivers is the gas pedal. However, some drivers take the word ‘go’ to a whole, new level. Many drivers like the feel of the wind blowing and the power behind driving fast. Some drivers may even participate in street racing and other activities. Sometimes, drivers may speed when they are in a rush to arrive at work, school or a meeting.
Running Red Lights
Traffic lights are designed to manage traffic. Without traffic lights, driving would be chaotic and extremely hard as demonstrated during power outages. When you disobey traffic signals, you risk your life, your passengers’ life, and thosearound you. Red lights are disobeyed for several reasons. For example, running late to work or school or any important destination, or being in a bad mood can give you a small incentive to test the law.
Drinking and Driving
One of the most dangerous and reckless driving habits is driving while under the influence. Drinking while intoxicated is not only against the law but can endanger the lives of your passengers, the drivers around you, yourself, and even pedestrians. Although you may feel fine, uplifted and complete control of your abilities, you are actually far from that. Getting behind the wheel while impaired from drinking alcohol can only cause problems.
